Few riders in the modern era have such an impressive list of victories as Fabian Cancellara. He is the unquestionable RADIOSHACK NISSAN TREK captain in the Spring Classics. His perfectionism and professionalism spark a propensity to win throughout the entire team.
Cancellara holds a record of four World Time Trial Championships titles, earning him a reputation of being next to unbeatable in the discipline. Besides his usual spring targets, one of Cancellara’s major goals for 2012 will be to defend his Olympic title in London.
He is a master of the cobbles having won Paris-Roubaix and E3 Harelbeke twice and the Tour of Flanders once. Adding to his list of classic victories, he won the 2008 Milan-Sanremo with an astounding show of strength. Il Lombardia and Liège-BastogneLiège are the only Monuments of Cycling that are missing on his palmares.
His talents do not end with time trialing and the classics, since he has also won prestigious week-long stage races such as the Tirreno–Adriatico and the Tour of Switzerland. Always quick to acknowledge the outstanding work ethic instilled in him from an early age, Cancellara is happy to work his hardest for the team, as he did in the Tour de France 2011.
